Investigating Turkey's strategy in Central Asia and its impact on Russia's influence in the region (2014-2021)

Russia is a major regional power in Central Asia and this region is considered Moscow's sphere of influence. For this reason, Central Asia has been the focus of the Moscow government due to its rich energy resources and economic cycles. On the other hand, Turkey has played a role in Central Asia from 2014 to 2021 with various measures and through cultural and economic diplomacy, which has led to the reduction of Russian influence in this region. Considering the importance of the category of culture and economy in the international arena, as well as the necessity of explaining the adoption of the mentioned strategy in the studies of international relations, this research is answering the question “how has Turkey affected Russia's influence in the Central Asian region from 2014 to 2021?”

In this research, an attempt has been made to prove the hypothesis that from 2014 to 2021, through cultural and economic diplomacy with the countries of Central Asia, Turkey has affected Russia's influence in this region and has also caused the reduction of this country's influence in Central Asia.



The research method is analytical-explanatory and the data collection method is library. Public diplomacy and soft power components have also been used as a theoretical framework. The results of this research show that Turkey's strategy in the cultural and economic fields from 2014 to 2021 has had an impact on Central Asian countries and has led to a decrease in Russian influence in this region.
